چکیده

In the linear theory of elasticity we consider a bounded, compressible, and isotropic body whose mechanical behavior is described by the Lamé system with density and Lamé coefficients depending on the space variables. Assuming null surface displacement on the whole boundary, we first prove an estimate of the surface traction in terms of the energy of the solution and the body force. Then, under suitable restrictions on the density and the Lamé coefficients, we show that, in the absence of body forces, the elastic energy can be controlled by the surface traction exerted on a suitable sub-boundary provided that the final observability time is sufficiently large. The latter condition is related with the density, the Lamé coefficients, and the geometry of the body. These inequalities are applied to an inverse source problem for the Lamé system. §

Unique Determination of Inhomogeneity in a Stationary Isotropic Lamé System with Varible Coefficients

We consider a two dimensional stationary Lamé system with variable coefficients. We prove the uniqueness in the inverse source problem of determining polygonal supports of distributing force by observations of surface displacement and stress. Our method is based on the regularity property of solutions to the Poisson equation in a polygonal domain.

Carleman Estimate for a Stationary Isotropic Lamé System and the Applications

For the isotropic stationary Lamé system with variable coefficients equipped with Dirichlet or surface stress boundary condition, we obtain a Carleman estimate such that (i) the right hand side is estimated in a weighted L2-space and (ii) the estimate includes nonhomogeneous surface displacement or surface stress. Using this estimate we establish the conditional stability in Sobolev’s norm of t...

Determination of a Source Term in an Inverse Heat Conduction Problem by Radial Basis Functions

In this paper, we propose a technique for determining a source term in an inverse heat conduction problem (IHCP) using Radial Basis Functions (RBFs). Because of being very suitable instruments, the RBFs have been applied for solving Partial Dierential Equations (PDEs) by some researchers. In the current study, a stable meshless method will be pro- posed for solving an (I...

Inverse Boundary Design Problem of Combined Radiation-convection Heat Transfer in Laminar Recess Flow

In the present work, an inverse analysis of combined radiation and laminar forced convection heat transfer in a two-dimensional channel with variable cross sections is performed. The conjugate gradient method is used to find the temperature distribution over the heater surface to satisfy the prescribed temperature and heat flux distributions over the design surface. The fluid is considered to b...
